Animal boarding has been operating on the current site in Stour Row, just outside Shaftesbury, for over 50 years. Branscombe Kennels and Cattery consistently offers high levels of care for the four-legged members of the families, from all across Dorset, Wiltshire, Somerset and beyond.

Christmas 2025 Opening

Now that summer has passed all eyes have turned towards Christmas and New Year. This is the list of days when our reception will be open over the New Year period.


Wednesday 24th (Christmas Eve): 10:00-12:30 ONLY - no afternoon drop-offs or pick-ups.
Thursday 25th (Christmas Day): CLOSED - we will still be caring for the dogs.
Friday 26th (Boxing Day): CLOSED - we will still be caring for the dogs.
Saturday 27th, Monday 29th & Tuesday 30th: Normal Opening Times.
Wednesday 31st (New Years Eve): 10:00-12:30 ONLY - no afternoon drop-offs or pick-ups.
Thursday 1st (New Years Day): CLOSED
Friday 2nd onwards: Normal Opening Times.

Please note that Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day will attract a double-charge for any animal staying that day.

Our Services

Putting Your Pets First

We offer a year-round boarding service for when you are not able to be there yourself.

From single days and weekends to longer stays we strive to accommodate all requests.

We are able to offer a dog grooming service in our newly refurbished grooming salon.

Dogs can be groomed while they stay with us to save you another journey, or can be booked in independently, and can be pampered whenever they need it. Please contact us for an appointment.

We have over 40 kennels on site and an above average staff to dog ratio. Our experienced staff offer a high standard of care.

Our cattery can accommodate over 15 cats, and our experienced staff will ensure your cat has a pleasant stay.

Pet Food Shop

We are now able to supply frozen raw meat, dry and wet dog food from our small shop on site. This new venture will continue to evolve and expand as our customers guide our stock choices.
